birthday time...
its strange and sad but undeniable. Birthdays are STRICTLY designed for children, whose parents organize parties, their playmates arive, all kinds of naughtiness goes on, lots of cupcakes consumed-guilt being a non event. tantrums are excused on too much sugar, and at the end of the exhausting day, the lucky kid gets to sit in front of his.her worn -out disney movie
no muss, no fuss
21 however is a different ballgame. times have changed, NOW birthdays are time to ruminate, take into account one's fortunes, friends, or lack theorof. Of course life is very. good. but why then the anxiety when the 'big days' come around? Is it cos of how far we have come, or how the exact opposite. life is completely in our hands now, and that's some scary shit.
anyway it should be said that it not in my DNA to enjoy being center of attention, so why should I want a big fuss around my birthday anyway. It is just conditioning that tells us that for some reason people should just *know* and *care* about this freakin 'social construct'
anyway the conclusion i have come to is that birthdays are over-rated, and every day should be a day to treat yourself, why not? especially when you're not a wolper patient (yet!) although they do get a *mean* sandwich
so-brrrrrrrrrrrring it
